Honda UK’s most affordable Hybrid

New Honda is UK’s most affordable Hybrid

The Honda Insight hybrid will cost as little as £15,490 when it goes on sale in April.

That sum will get you a SE-trim car that comes with alloy wheels, climate control, electric windows and mirrors, along with steering wheel-mounted stereo controls all as standard.

That makes the Insight SE, with CO2 emissions of 101g/km and combined fuel economy of 64.2mpg the country's best value hybrid engined family car.

The Insight has two further trims and Honda expects the mid-spec ES model to be the most popular choice for buyers.

Upmarket ES, and ES-T models cost from £16,790 and £18,390 respectively, and offer a leather steering wheel and gearknob as well as paddle shift gear change. Cars also get privacy glass and a USB port for MP3 players.

Finally, top of the range ES-T equipped Insights get DVD satellite navigation and a hands free telephone connection.

The Insight hits showrooms at the beginning of April.

Honda Insight

Insight to the Future

Honda has just realised information of a new Hybrid coming to the UK market in spring 2009, it is called the Honda Insight, which is a part electric part petrol engine Hybrid car, Honda will continue to use its IMA (Integrated Motor Assist) technology which has already proven the way forward for the company.

The Insight will revive its predecessor model name used on the 1999 coupe – The first production hybrid to be sold in Europe.

Based on an all-new platform, the Insight will be more compact than the current Civic Hybrid. It includes the practicality of a five-door family hatch and a price much lower than any other petrol-electric car on the market.

The insight has the familiar look of the Civic at the front, with swept-back headlights and pronounced chin. In profile, it resembles the Honda FCX Clarity – the world’s first production fuel cell vehicle.

Un-like the current Honda Civic Hybrid, Honda’s engineers have intelligently placed the IMA Battery under the bonnet, which has allowed the Insight to take advantage of being a medium family hatchback and maximising space in the boot.

Honda also aims to underpin a family of Insight models by 2010 – including a three-door and even an estate. Three other variants are planned a sports car based on the CR-Z concept, a hybrid Jazz and eventually a replacement for the petrol-electric Civic.
